Ilustratour 2012

El mes pasado  participé en las jornadas y los talleres del Ilustratour 2012, a los que vengo asistiendo desde su primera edición. Como en años anteriores, fueron unos días intensos para aprender y compartir junto a ilustradores de todas partes.

Mi propuesta de mascota para el Ilustratour 2013, el “pato pollo”, estuvo expuesta junto a las del resto de participantes del concurso en el LAVA, Laboratorio de las Artes de Valladolid.

Last month I took part in the workshops and conferences of Ilustratour 2012, which I have been attending since its first edition. As in previous years, these were intense days for learning and sharing with illustrators from Spain and abroad.

My mascot proposal for Ilustratour 2013,  the "chicken duck", was exhibited along with the rest of the contestants at the LAVA Arts Laboratory in Valladolid.

Illustration Friday: 'REFRESH'

The theme of this week has reminded me of this illustration I did in a series dedicated to women who appear in Don Quixote. This character tries to impersonate a man, but cannot avoid showing her femininity when she removes her boots to refresh her tired feet in a stream.

El tema de esta semana me  ha recordado esta ilustración que hice dentro de una serie dedicada a las mujeres que aparecen en el Quijote. Este personaje intenta hacerse pasar por un hombre, pero no puede evitar mostrar su feminidad al descalzarse para refrescar sus pies cansados en un arroyo.

Illustration Friday: 'SPACE'

Marilú travels through space and time with the help of a luminous being from another planet. In this first version of the book cover appeared this curious steam engine.

Marilú viaja por el espacio y el tiempo con la ayuda de un ser luminoso procedente de otro planeta. En esta primera versión de la portada del libro aparecía esta curiosa máquina de vapor.

Illustration Friday: 'SECRET'

Irene has a secret. She has just sneaked from the roof into the small chapel of the old house next door. Due to her curiosity, she’s been on the verge of breaking one of the images there. Irene returns just in time to catch a story book and climb into her bed at the time her mother comes to look for her. Will her mother discover her little adventure?

This is one of the unpublished illustrations I did for the book "Entre tejados" ('Among Rooftops') by Cecilia Dominguez.

Irene tiene un secreto: se ha colado desde el tejado en la pequeña capilla de una vieja casona vecina y, por curiosa, ha estado a punto de romper una de las imágenes. Regresa justo a tiempo para coger a toda prisa un libro de cuentos y subirse a la cama en el momento en que su madre la viene a buscar. ¿Acabará descubriendo su pequeña aventura?

Esta es una de las ilustraciones no publicadas que realicé para el libro “Entre tejados”, de Cecilia Domínguez.

Illustration Friday: 'SHINY'

Shiny ... This word reminds me of this scene of a fairy tale in which a large silver bird is about to take the little hero to the top of the Crystal Mountain, which at that hour in the afternoon reflects all the colors of the rainbow.

Brillante... Esta palabra me recuerda esta escena de un cuento infantil en que un gran pájaro plateado está a punto de llevar al pequeño protagonista hasta la cima de la Montaña de Cristal, que a esa hora de la tarde refleja todos los colores del arco iris.

Illustration Friday: 'HURRY!'

Hurry!.. This character has to hurry up and row at full speed to run away from this giant fish. What a nightmare!

Illustration Friday: 'HEIGHTS'

In a village near the snowy heights of Asia, this little traveler arrives at a temple where she finds the image of a golden peacock with its tail on fire.

This drawing is part of the work I did during Istvansch’s illustration workshop in Valladolid.

En un pueblo cerca de las alturas nevadas de Asia, esta pequeña viajera llega a un templo donde encuentra la imagen de un pavo real dorado con la cola en llamas.

Este dibujo es parte del trabajo que realicé en el taller de ilustración de Istvansch en Valladolid.
